Modesto on Ice

There’s still time to enjoy the winter wonder of ice skating in Modesto. The tented outdoor Modesto On Ice rink in downtown Modesto will remain open through Jan. 20. Skating sessions are held every 90 minutes.

WHEN: Skating starts 10 a.m. most Fridays-Sundays, 4 p.m. most Mondays-Thursdays and goes until 11:30 p.m. most Fridays-Saturdays and 10 p.m. most Sundays-Thursdays

COST: Sessions $12 for children 3 to 12 years old; $15 for ages 13 and up (skate rentals included in the price)

Leonardo da Vinci

The film “Leonardo: The Works” at the State Theatre focuses on the artists’ paintings and drawings as an exhibition on screen. Among the works are “The Mona Lisa,” “The Last Supper,” “Lady with an Ermine,” “Madonna Litta,” “Virgin of the Rocks” and more than a dozen others.

Check out the “My Hero” exhibit before its run ends Jan. 12 at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock. The exhibit celebrates and re-envisions the possibilities that exist when you are a superhero. Images that range from humorous to tragic explore the fascination with iconic heroes by more than 40 artists.
