Direct from Broadway, one of the world’s best-selling magic shows returns to the Gallo Center. “The Illusionists – Live from Broadway” tour has dazzled audiences of all ages with thrilling and sophisticated magic.

Keynote speaker for the 25th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration is Michael Eric Dyson, author, preacher, radio host and professor of sociology at Georgetown University. He will present “Dr. King for the 21st Century,” celebrating King’s life and legacy. Students can participate in a discussion with Dyson at 4 p.m. March 30 at the King-Kennedy Memorial Center. A public reception, 5-6 p.m., also will be held at King-Kennedy.

Enjoy the music from Grammy-winning guitarist Will Ackerman with kalimbatar/guitarist Tevor Gordon Hall, guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Todd Boston, and Imrat guitar/guitarist Todd Mosby. The concert culminates with all four guitarists playing in an ensemble.

Plant sales, demonstrations, auctions, raffles, and a basics beginner class were offered to attendees of the show. The Modesto Bonsai Club is over 35 years old and has 70 members. The Modesto Bonsai Club’s 37th annual event shows off the ancient art of bonsai with demonstrations by club sensei (the Japanese word for teacher or instructor) Sam Medina, exhibits, plant sales and more. Bonsai is an art form that stems from ancient Asian culture. The show is open to the public.

Modesto Community Concert Association presents an afternoon of big band as director and saxophonist Rod Harris leads the Columbia Kicks Big Band from Sonora. A music teacher at Columbia College, Harris has built a following for the band throughout Central California. The band plays jazz standards and hits from the swing era.
