Oakdale Chocolate Festival
Enjoy the ooey, gooey and chewy goodness at the 23rd annual Oakdale Chocolate Festival this weekend. The event will feature more than 200 vendors offering arts and crafts and food, as well as live entertainment, kids activities and more. Chocolate lovers can stroll down Chocolate Avenue to sample fudges, truffles, ice cream, cakes and more.

Jumping Frog Jubilee
Hop into the fun of the annual Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. The frog jump competition, which dates back to the 1800s, inspired Mark Twain to write his first published work “The Celebrated Jumping Frogs of Calaveras County.” The festivities also include food, exhibits, a rodeo, destruction derby, livestock exhibits, live music and carnival. The Jumping Frog Jubilee culminates Sunday afternoon with the top hoppers competing in the finals.

Family Cycling Festival & Criterium
Immerse yourself in two-wheeled fun at the Family Cycling Festival and Criterium in downtown Modesto this weekend. The cycling festival will have giveaways of free children’s bike helmets, BMX stunt shows, obstacle courses and races, bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, face painting and more. The Modesto Criterium runs in conjunction with the festival and offers a variety of race categories from beginner and child to professional.

All Things Muir Festival
As the name suggests, the All Things Muir Festival will celebrate the famed naturalist. The sixth annual event celebrates John Muir’s historic visits to Yosemite in the 1800s before Yosemite became a national park. Festivities include food, entertainment, open houses, tours, exhibits and more.

Women’s Music Festival Fundraiser
The Northern California Women’s Music Festival continues to gear up for this year’s event. An all-ages concert fundraiser for the event will be held this weekend. Performing will be Mattea Overstreet, Kayla Just, Josephine Johnson, Iraya Cress, Dyli O’Bryne, Emily O’Neill, Midnight Mover and Erin Odessa. The event includes a silent auction plus bidding on a VIP meet-and-greet ticket with singers Lita Ford and Tracy Bonham, who will headline the music festival in October.

Modesto Symphony Orchestra
The Modesto Symphony Orchestra performs the choral piece “A Sea Symphony” with guest soloists soprano Amanda Hall and baritone Philip Cutlip. The orchestra will be joined by the Modesto Symphony Chorus and the California State University, Stanislaus, Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers. The symphony was inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman and depicts the wonder of the sea.
