Central Valley Brewfest
Raise a frosty mug at the third annual Central Valley Brewfest. The 21-and-older celebration of craft beer returns with tastings, games, live music and a charity art show. More than 125 styles of beer will be available to sample from breweries including Track 7 Brewery, Dust Bowl Brewery, Tioga Sequoia Brewery, Lagunitas Brewery, Ninkasi Brewery and more. Tickets include unlimited sampling, a souvenir mug, admission to a charity art gallery and free parking.

Chanticleer
San Francisco’s Grammy-winning, all-male, classical vocal ensemble, Chanticleer, comes to the Gallo Center for the Arts. Described as “the world’s reigning male chorus” by The New Yorker, the 12-man group is now in its 37th season. The repertoire of the self-proclaimed “Orchestra of Voices” spans 10 centuries from Gregorian chant to contemporary jazz, spirituals and world music.

Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen
Founding member of The Byrds Chris Hillman and musical partner Herb Pedersen will play a World Trade Center shrine benefit show at the State Theatre. Hillman is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee who also played in The Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas and the Desert Rose Band. Hillman and Pederson play bluegrass and folk together as a duo. The show is a fundraiser for Modesto’s Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church to support the construction of the St. Nicholas National Shrine at the World Trade Center in New York City.

Center Stage Conservatory
Check into Center Stage Conservatory’s familial drama “The Fall to Earth” starting this weekend. The drama by Chicago playwright Joel Drake Johnson explores parent and child relationships and the secrets we keep as a mother and daughter travel to a hotel. The production is directed by Traci Sprague and stars area actors Maryann Curmi, Ashley Rose Tacheira and Lillian McLeod. A special “Pay What You Can” night will be May 21.

StringQuake show
Instrumental San Francisco trio StringQuake performs an intimate show at Greens on Tenth this weekend. The group, featuring harpist Amelia Romano, cellist Misha Khalikulov and percussionist Josh Mellinger, plays music that includes influences from the Americas, Africa, India and Europe. The concert is presented by Modesto Unplugged and John Griswold.

Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan
The long-running and popular Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan brings its signature sounds to the Gallo Center for the Arts. The first incarnation of the group began in 1898 as a quartet. Over the decades, the group has become renowned and a force in Mexican music history, winning awards and titles through the generations.
