Funny women
It’s a girls night on stage at the Gallo Center as “The Every Woman Comedy Tour” pulls in, featuring a trio of young comics. Chaunte Wayans, April Macie and Esther Ku bring their adult comedy and stand-up skills honed on national stages and television shows including “Last Comic Standing,” and “Snoop Dogg’s Bad Girls of Comedy.”

Liisa Dávila
Modesto’s Townsend Opera takes its recital series to the Mistlin Gallery with soprano Liisa Dávila. Featuring works from Mozart, Schumann and more, the TOP veteran brings her “In Sleep the World is Yours” program, promising poignant and lighthearted vocals. “Home for the Holidays”
Downtown Modesto’s Mistlin Gallery presents a member show and sale beginning on Tuesday with its “Home for the Holidays” tradition. The show features a multimedia art exhibit and gift sale, including photography, paintings, pottery and more by Central California Art Association artists.

Petty tribute
A group of local artists gathers Saturday to celebrate the music of Tom Petty. Playing the late classic rocker’s hits will be Doug Petty and the Chartbreakers, Third Party, Gary Gervase and Mark Macsenti, with a jam planned to close the show.

“An Enemy of the People”
Prospect Theater Project brings the Arthur Miller adaption of the Henrik Ibsen play “An Enemy of the People” to its Modesto stage. Although first penned in 1882, the company believes the themes resonate in national politics today – notably speaking truth to power. The play follows a doctor who learns there are toxins in the water supply for a health spa in his town.

“Messiah” singalong
Audience participation is encouraged as the annual Sing Along “Messiah” program celebrates its 10th anniversary. To mark the milestone, this year’s event expands to include chamber orchestra accompaniment as singers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate. The performance of Handel’s “Messiah” includes featured soloists Sandra Bengochia, Duana Demus-Leslie, Merilyn Telle Vaugn, Bruce Merchant and Richard Colla and will be conducted by Ginger Covert Colla.
