Veterans Day Parade
Celebrate the country’s veterans on Saturday during Modesto’s annual parade. The Veterans Day event begins in downtown Modesto at 10th and O streets, then heads down Needham Street to Graceada Park. There will be a ceremony at Graceada following the parade.

Petula Clark
Head “Downtown” to hear the singer who made the 1960s hit famous, Petula Clark. A stage and screen star in her native England from the age of 9, Clark charted in the U.S. with “Downtown.” She went on to record 15 consecutive Top 40 hits, including “This is My Song,” “I Know a Place,” “My Love” and “Don’t Sleep in the Subway.” She brings her famous music to downtown Modesto’s Gallo Center.

Tom Papa
Comedian Tom Papa hosts “Come to Papa,” a popular weekly radio show and podcast that’s had guests such as Matt Damon, Sarah Silverman, Bill Burr, John Mulaney and Kevin Pollack. Papa guest starred on “The Jim Gaffigan Show” on TV Land, hosted the NBC series “The Marriage Ref” and recently joined the cast of “A Prairie Home Companion.” He brings his his observational humor to the Gallo Center.

China Cats
Grateful Dead tribute band The China Cats formed in 2008 in Santa Cruz as the Dough Knees, a group of musicians that wanted to play favorite music. A year later, the band renamed itself the China Cats and began playing Grateful Dead music across Northern California. The group next plays the West Side Theatre in Newman.

Leah Shoshanah
Leah Shoshanah is a Chicago-based singer-songwriter and cantor who will share her original music and cover songs during the next Sunday Afternoons at CBS concert series. She traverses genres and languages from Brazilian sambas to Ladino and Israeli folk, to opera arias and Broadway tunes.

“Japanese American Experience”
Turlock’s Carnegie Arts Center offers a program on “A Lesson in American History: The Japanese American Experience,” highlighting Japanese internment during World War II. The U.S. government removed 120,000 individuals of Japanese ancestry from their homes on the West Coast and confined them in camps. The Speakers Bureau of the Livingston chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League will present their personal and families’ experiences.
