‘Mariachi Girl’
The bilingual family musical “Mariachi Girl” will be staged for the first time in California by the Gallo Center for the Arts thanks to an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. The show tells the story of a girl named Carmencita, who dreams of being in her father’s mariachi band. The Gallo Center production is directed by Wes Page, with musical direction by Ric Campero, and stars California State University, Stanislaus, student Liliana Hernandez as Carmencita, along with other local actors.

Lucky Fest
Feel the luck of the Irish at what is billed as the Central Valley’s largest pub crawl. Lucky Fest features 25 custom pubs, games, live music, entertainment and dancing in the streets of downtown Modesto. The 21-and-older event will include pub themes from castle to karaoke, fairies to mustaches, and much more.

Murphys Irish Day
For a family-friendly Irish celebration, visit Murphys Irish Day. The community celebrates its Celtic heritage with a pancake breakfast, Irish Day parade, bagpipers, singers, dancers, musicians, vendor booths and kids activities. The grand marshal of this year’s parade, which starts at 11 a.m., will be Suzanne Friedman, president of the Murphys Community Club.

Aaron Meyer
The Modesto Community Concert Association closes out its 2014-15 season with a performance by concert rock violinist Aaron Meyer. Classically trained since age 5, Meyer debuted with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age 11. He performs contemporary, progressive, rock, classical and world music and has collaborated with Pink Martini, Smokey Robinson, Aaron Neville, the Temptations and Everclear, among others.

‘Arsenic and Old Lace’
The West Side Players will stage “Arsenic and Old Lace” to celebrate the Newman theater’s 75th anniversary year. The production is directed by James Jeans and stars West Side Theatre executive director Farris Larsen and area actress Harlene Silva as the homicidal Brewster sisters.

Women of Ireland
Continue the St. Patrick’s Day festivities with a show by Women of Ireland. The stage show features Irish and Celtic music, song and dance. The show has step dancers, including three from Riverdance; the lead dancer with Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance; and guest male dancer Anthony Fallon, the four-time world champion and former lead with Riverdance.
