The Summoning
Over 21-year-old ghosts and ghouls can get their fright fill at The Summoning: Halloween Street Party. The annual outdoor block party will include multiple Halloween-themed bars including CarnEvil, Zombit Prom, Hocus Pocus, Chucky’s Playhouse and more. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume, and there will be a contest for best-dressed. Festivities include live music and DJ dance areas.

Dia de Los Muertos
Celebrate the fourth annual community Dia de Los Muertos celebration. The event begins with a free screening of the animated feature “The Book of Life” at Brenden Theatres. Outside at Tenth Street Plaza there will be community booths, face painting, games, sidewalk chalk drawing and more. Then at 5:30 p.m. the community is invited to take part and watch the procession, which starts at St. Stanislaus Church.

The Texas Tenors
The Emmy Award-winning trio the Texas Tenors bring their classical-country-pop crossover sound to Gallo Center for the Arts. The group first gained national fame as finalists on “America’s Got Talent” in 2009. Since then the singers have recorded the successful and award-winning PBS special “You Should Dream.” Billboard magazine recently named them the No. 10 Classical Artist in the World.

Sleepy Hollow’s Legend
The Denair Gaslight Community Conservatory Theater continues its run of the Halloween-themed “Sleepy Hollow’s Legend” on its stage. The classic tale of the Headless Horseman gets a family-friendly theatrical treatment. The local cast includes Patrick Walker as Ichabod Crane and area youths in supporting roles with Merced College adjunct professor of theater arts Josh Morriston directing.

Haunted McHenry Museum
Boys & Girls Clubs of Stanislaus County brings the spooky fun at its annual Haunted McHenry Mansion event. The Halloween treat is geared toward youths age 5 to 12. Families can enjoy a haunted maze filled with live characters from mad scientists to haunted barbers, werewolves and ghosts provided by Kit Fox Trolley. Festivities also include crafts and games.

La Ofrenda Dia de Los Muertos
Ballet Folklorico de Sacramento brings the show “La Ofrenda Dia de Los Muertos” in time to celebrate the Mexican holiday. The show celebrates the diverse, traditional Mexican festivals that pay homage to the memories of ancestors. “La Ofrenda (The Offering)” is a journey through various states in Mexico which presents the customs and rituals that take place on “Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead).”
