All Hallows Fantasy Faire

Things get spooky in Sonora at the eighth annual All Hallows Fantasy Faire. The event blends a celebration of the ancient Celtic and Viking new year with Halloween-themed fun. Grounds will feature vendors, street performers, re-enactments and more. Live music includes the Vintage Vandals, Tragically White and the Black Irish Band.

Free Hitchcock film

Alfred Hitchcock’s black comedy “The Trouble With Harry” will get a free screening. The showing is sponsored by the nonprofit Funeral Consumer Alliance of Stanislaus/Merced Counties. The 1955 film stars “Leave It to Beaver” star Jerry Mathers and Shirley MacLaine as family members of a man whose body is discovered.

Jethro Tull

Jethro Tull founder Ian Anderson brings a new show paying tribute to the real-life English agriculturist namesake to the Gallo Center for the Arts. The progressive rock act rose up in the 1960s with songs such as “Living in the Past,” “Aqualung” and “Locomotive Breath.” The concert will include many of the group’s biggest hits.

Halloween chemistry show

Dr. Al Chemist and the Mischiefs present a Halloween chemistry show. The fundraiser for the Great Valley Museum and Modesto Area Partners in Science features a group of chemistry instructors performing a series of Halloween-related science demonstrations.
