Famed swimming coach Zador dies
Ervin Zador, who won a gold medal with the Hungarian water polo team in the 1956 Olympics and has been coaching the Stanislaus District's elite swimmers for decades, passed away Saturday.
Zador was best known for his role in the "Blood in the Water" Olympic win over the Soviet Union, just weeks after the Soviets invaded Hungary. The Ripon aquatics center is named after Zador, who coached the Ripon Aquatic and Ripon Sea Lions teams.
