Sam Young, the former Modesto Junior College head football coach and currently the Pirates’ defensive coordinator, is mulling over a chance to serve on the staff of new UC Davis coach Dan Hawkins. Young and Hawkins were young assistant coaches for the Aggies during the early 1980s. Young has been a member of the MJC coaching staff for over 25 years.
