Man shot shortly after Modesto auto accident
Modesto police are looking for a suspect who shot a man shortly after the two were involved in a traffic accident.
At about 10 p.m., the 20-year victim reportedly rear ended the suspect’s compact truck on Claus Road. The two got out of their respective vehicles to assess the damage and started arguing with each other, according to Lt. Rick Armendariz.
Witnesses said the suspect pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim.
The victim got back into his car and drove away and the suspect followed.
The victim drove to the 3700 block of Laurenburg Avenue, got out of his car and started running, Armendariz said.
The suspect shot the man in the back and drove away. He was last seen driving north on Claus.
Modesto police found the victim lying in the front yard of a home, suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as Latino, 6 feet, 250 pounds with a shaved head and a mustache. He was last seen wearing tan shorts and a black shirt.
