Ron Kemper: Do bike riders have their own laws?

I would like to hear from these bike riders who are so willing to break the law. What gives you the right to pedal through red lights and stop signs? You complain about car drivers and how we treat bikers, but how about the way you treat us and your complete disregard for the laws of the road? Just because no cars are coming doesn’t give you the right to run that red light or stop sign.

I am thinking the next time a bike rider runs through a red light, I’ll just do the same.

Even if someone is coming, as a biker, you better not hit me, because if I live I’ll sue you even though it was my fault.

So all you bike riders: Send your letters to the editor and tell us why it’s OK to do what you do. Tell us about the shining example you set for children. Tell us about how you’re upstanding citizens when you’re not on a bike. Make us understand about your own rules of the road and how our rules just don’t apply to you. After all, you bike riders must be special. So tell us how.
