Two dogs were killed during a motorhome fire in Turlock late Thursday morning that displaced five people, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the 200 block of West Glennwood Avenue shortly before noon and found the motorhome fully engulfed in flames. Engine 31 was initially the only responder, but an additional engine and a battalion chief were called in as backup.

Crews put out the fire and prevented it from spreading into the grass field adjacent to the road. No one was injured in the blaze. However, three dogs were confirmed dead as a result of the fire.

The American Red Cross provided services for two adults and three children who were living in the motorhome. The cause of the fire was not listed in the Fire Department’s incident summary report. The Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit is handling the case.
