Two pit bulls bite man walking past airport neighborhood home
An adult male suffered bite wounds to the calves and thighs of both legs Wednesday afternoon when he was attacked by two pit bull dogs on Empire Avenue near Oregon Park in Modesto’s airport neighborhood.
The attack occurred shortly after noon as the man was walking past a residence in the 600 block of Empire and the two dogs charged at him through the open gate to their fenced yard, police said. “It sounds like witnesses were able to shoo the dogs back into the fenced area,” said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves.
The dogs’ owner was not present, but officers spoke with his girlfriend, Graves said, and impounded both dogs for quarantine. The dogs did not have collars or tags, so no proof of vaccinations, she said.
The seriousness of the bites was not clear Wednesday afternoon but they were bad enough that the victim was transported by ambulance for treatment, Graves said.
