Teen shot in lower leg outside Modesto home

A 15-year-old Modesto boy was shot in the lower leg outside his home on Celeste Drive on Sunday night.

The youth was outside when a few people pulled up in a two-door pickup truck, said Sgt. David Chamberlain. One person in the vehicle confronted the teen and fired a single round at him, striking him in the leg. The wound was not life-threatening, Chamberlain said.

The suspects then fled in the truck. The victim described the shooter as a male in his 20s with a medium complexion, Chamberlain said.

The 1900 block of Celeste is northeast of Rose and East Briggsmore avenues.
