Modesto man accidentally shoots neighbor, goes to jail
A Modesto man was recovering at Memorial Medical Center after his neighbor accidentally shot him in the stomach Sunday afternoon.
Police Sgt. Steve Stanfield said that although the shooting that occurred in the 2000 block of Floyd Avenue was unintentional, the shooter was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
James Hill, 41, was showing his 32-year-old neighbor the gun when it discharged, Stanfield said.
The victim had non-life-threatening injuries.
Hill is on parole after serving a five-year sentence for home invasion robbery.
