A collision and crash leave two Stanislaus County residents dead. Police investigating

One person was killed in a collision near Riverbank on Sunday night, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

The head-on collision was reported at about 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 108 and Snedigar Road. Crews arrived and found a “work van” that hit a large pickup truck.

The driver of the van was pinned inside of it. Medics declared the driver dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck sustained a broken wrist.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Veteran’s Day morning crash

At about 2:15 a.m., an officer with the Modesto Police Department responded to a solo-vehicle crash near the intersection of Pelandale Avenue and Tully Road.

When officer got there, they found a silver 2008 Acura MDX that crashed into a light pole. The driver, a 35-year-old Modesto resident, had major injuries and was taken to a local hospital where they died.

MPD’s Traffic Safety Unit was handling the investigation. Witnesses of the crash were asked to contact Officer Brad Beavers at beaversb@modestopd.com .

The identity of either drivers could not be confirmed as of Monday — The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office was closed for Veteran’s Day.
