Two dogs injured in house fire in north Modesto. A second home also damaged
Two dogs suffered burn injuries in a structure fire Thursday in north Modesto.
Engines responded at 3:12 p.m. to the 1300 block of Woodside Drive to battle a residential garage fire that extended into the home, according to a Modesto Fire Department report.
Two vehicles were burning in the driveway and firefighters worked to keep the fire from spreading to another residence. Dispatchers sounded a second alarm.
The report said seven engines, two trucks and other units were involved in containing the blaze.
Authorities said no injuries were reported. One resident was displaced by the fire and two dogs were taken to a veterinarian for treatment of burn injuries. Authorities had no additional information on the two pets.
The fire damage to the home was extensive. Fire units saved the nearby home but it suffered about $10,000 in damage, the report said. Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
The American Red Cross and California Fire Foundation are offering assistance to the displaced resident.
