Waterford fire destroys RV, damages garage, Stanislaus Consolidated says

A Saturday morning fire destroyed a recreational vehicle in Waterford and extended into a detached garage, said Stanislaus Consolidated Fire District Battalion Chief Eric DeHart.

Seven engines responded to the two-alarm fire near the intersection of Bentley and I streets, DeHart said, and firefighters stopped the blaze from spreading into residences.

No injuries were reported, DeHart said. The county’s Fire Investigations Unit is investigating the blaze and fire personnel believe it started in the RV, DeHart said.

The fire also burned a yard and sheds. Firefighters extinguished the fire that reached the garage, which DeHart said was a music studio. Investigators believe someone was inside the RV when the fire started, but do not know whether the garage was occupied.

Occupants were inside the house next to the RV as well as the duplexes behind it when the fire started, DeHart said. Some residents around 11 a.m. stood outside and watched firefighters mop up remnants of the fire.

Both Stanislaus Consolidated and the Modesto Fire Department were at the scene. As of noon, fire engines were still blocking off Bentley Street at I Street.
