Multiple calls keep Modesto firefighters busy

Firefighters with the Modesto Fire Department had a busy 24 hours, handling or helping with three blazes.

According to the fire department, firefighters assisted the Burbank Paradise Fire Department with a fire at a vacant home on Kenneth Street in west Modesto Friday.

Also, Friday, firefighters extinguished a fire in a trash pile at North Emerald and Loletta avenues just west of Highway 99. The pile was located in the back yard of a vacant home

And Saturday morning, firefighters were called to help the Ceres Fire Department battle a blaze at a barn on Blaker Road. That fire consumed a barn and shop and an adjacent mobile home. The American Red Cross was called to help the family displaced by the fire.
