Man’s body found in Riverbank canal
The body of an adult male was found Sunday afternoon in a canal near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Morrill Road. The body was lying in water about a foot deep, said Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Marc Nuno.
The identity of the man is withheld pending notification of family, and the cause of death will be determined through autopsy. There were no signs of homicide, such as stab or gunshot wounds, Nuno said.
A passerby found the body about 4:30 p.m. It probably had been there a couple of hours, Nuno said.
