YESTERYEARS

50 YEARS AGO: The Stanislaus County Planning Commission endorsed applications for federal funds for two Modesto parks. The request for endorsement came from the Modesto Planning Department to meet the requirements of the federal Open Space Land and Water Conservation Program. The funds were to fill out the park next to Downey High School, and for a 4-acre site by Chrysler School on Conant Avenue.
