What: Valentines for Veterans

When: Deadline: Monday, Feb. 10

Where: Rep. Harder’s Modesto office, 4701 Sisk Road, Suite 202

Info: Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) invites neighbors throughout the Central Valley to join him in making valentines to deliver to area veterans. The event gives local schools, families, individuals, businesses and other organizations the opportunity to make valentines to show ongoing appreciation for the service of our veterans. Rep. Harder will collect the valentines and distribute them to veterans through partner organizations including the Pacific Heroes Project as well as local American Legion and VFW chapters in advance of Valentine’s Day. What: Veterans Pathway to Citizenship Workshop

When: Thursday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Info: Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who are not U.S. citizens are invited to a citizenship workshop at the Modesto Library. Free, individual legal assistance to veterans and their families seeking citizenship and/or naturalization will be available at this workshop. What: Income Tax Preparation Assistance

Info: Free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs will be offered through the last week in March at various Stanislaus County libraries. Volunteers, trained and certified by the IRS, will provide tax preparation assistance. Interested parties are encouraged to make an appointment, walk-ins may be helped if time permits. Taxpayers must bring ID and social security cards for each person who will be on their tax return and the prior year’s tax return, if available. What: Turlock Garden Club Meeting
