Human remains found in field near Westley

Human remains were found in a field west of Westley over the weekend and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department detectives are trying to determine how the person died.

Detectives responded to the scene Saturday in the 6600 block of McCracken Road after someone found the remains, said Deputy Royjindar Singh.

Detectives will not release most details about the the investigation including the condition of the remains or how long the deceased person had been there, the gender or approximate age of the person or even specifics about where the remains were found and by whom.

Singh said the cause of death is under investigation by homicide detectives and the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
