Prep football roundup: Results from first ever Stanislaus District bowl games

History was made Friday night when teams across the Sac-Joaquin Section played in the first ever postseason bowl games. The teams ranked ninth through 16th in their division earned one extra game this season, with the winners taking home a tan and blue banner as the best of the rest.

In addition to Pitman, Johansen and Gregori, seven Stanislaus District teams earned one more chance to end their season with a win and build some momentum for next season. Seniors got one final game and young players got a taste of the postseason.

Enochs, Davis, Patterson and Beyer each put one final tally in the win column, snapping losing skids, scoring season highs and continuing win streaks.

Lincoln-Stockton 54, Turlock 15: Turlock fell behind 20-0 after the first quarter, but Kaleb Guinn powered through the line for a score. The Trojans scored 34 straight points, taking a 54-7 lead late in the game. Turlock’s season ends with a 5-6 record.

Enochs 36, Golden Valley 29: Enochs finishes its season 3-8 overall, snapping a three-game losing streak to take a one-possession victory over Golden Valley.

Grace Davis 53, Atwater 27: Davis saved its best performance for last, scoring a season high in points in a win. The Spartans finished the season with a 7-4 record, good for their most wins since 2021 and five wins in their last six games.

Patterson 34, Los Banos 20: Patterson earned its fourth win of the season with its bowl game victory Friday night. The Tigers finish the season as winners of three of their final five games after a three-game losing streak during the middle of the season.

Argonaut 44, Ceres 6: Ceres fell to 3-8 on the season with Friday’s loss. The Bulldogs scored a season-low six points in the road bowl game against the Mustangs.

Beyer 20, Orestimba 7: With Friday night’s bowl game win, the Patriots secured their first season of four or more wins since 2019. Before this season, Beyer had not won a postseason game since 2011.

Waterford 37, Big Valley Christian 28: Waterford and Big Valley Christian matched up for the first time since last season’s Division VII postseason, a game the Lions won. Last season’s victory was Big Valley’s first win over Waterford since before 2004, but the Lions could not extend the streak to two straight in the bowl game loss.
