Hilmar ends two game skid in win over rival Hughson; Davis and Waterford still undefeated

Hilmar High made quick work of visiting rival Hughson in a Trans-Valley League matchup.

Broc Perry started the scoring with a 64-yard run as the Yellowjackets put up 14 points in the first quarter en route to a 28-0 victory on Friday night. Perry finished with five carries for 75 yards and one touchdown.

Derek Taylor hauled in six catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns from Hilmar quarterback Jason Pimentel as the Yellowjackets (6-2, 2-2) ended a two-game losing streak.

Hilmar, the third-place team in the TVL will finish its season with Modesto Christian (1-6, 1-4) and Riverbank (0-7, 0-4).

Downey 45, Enochs 20: The Knights defeated the Eagles for their seventh consecutive victory. Downey (7-1, 3-0) next takes on Gregori in a battle for first place in the Central California Athletic League.

Turlock 48, Modesto 25: The Bulldogs, who led by one point at halftime, blew the game open with a 21-point third quarter. Turlock quarterback Cole Gilbert was 12 for 19 for 223 yards and four touchdowns. Modesto running back Henry McGrath rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the losing cause. Turlock’s JT Foreman rushed for 158 yards on 19 carries.

Davis 49, Beyer 0: The Spartans’ perfect season continued with an easy victory. Davis is 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Western Athletic Conference and appear headed for the WAC title. They play winless Johansen and Ceres (5-3, 3-2) to close out the season and have victories over the only other teams with one conference loss – Lathrop and Los Banos.

Los Banos 55, Ceres 42: Victor Perez and Aiden Ramirez both scored two rushing touchdowns for the Tigers, who outlasted the Bulldogs in a shootout. Los Banos quarterback David Herrera also tossed two touchdowns and ran for two more scores as the Tigers scored a season-high 55 points.

Los Banos improves to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs fell to 5-2 and 3-2.

Patterson 59, Golden Valley 43: Eleazar Garza threw three touchdowns and ran for touchdowns of 50 and 83 yards for the Cougars, who dropped to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the Central California Conference.

Garza connected on two scoring strikes of 36 and 41 yards with sophomore receiver Jonah White.

Atwater 21, Central Valley 14: The Falcons trailed by one point entering the fourth quarter but were able to pull out their second win of the season.

Omar Navarro scored on a 3-yard touchdown run to give the Falcons the lead with 8:32 left in the game.

Atwater quarterback Tyler Parr threw touchdown passes to James Thomas and Colton Dukes for the Falcons other two scores. Atwater improves to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the CCC.

Escalon 51, Riverbank 0: The Cougars (6-2, 4-0) earned an easy victory, setting up a first-place Trans-Valley League showdown next Friday night against Ripon (6-2, 4-0).

Livingston 55, Modesto Christian 0: The Wolves (5-3, 2-2) bounced back from a loss to Ripon with an easy win over the Crusaders (1-6, 1-4).

Big Valley Christian 41, Millennium 0: Kayden Spears scored on the first play of the night and the Lions never looked back. Big Valley Christian (2-6, 1-0) jumped out to an early lead, scoring 20 first-quarter points.

The Lions won their first Central California Athletic Alliance game over the Falcons (3-4, 0-1) in convincing fashion, giving them their second win in three weeks after losing five games straight.

Waterford 61, Orestimba 35: The Wildcats improved to 8-0, 5-0 in the Southern Athletic League with the impressive win over the Warriors (4-4, 2-3). Waterford is averaging 40 points a game this season.

Johansen at Lathrop: Did not play due to Johansen still being in COVID-19 protocols.
