Historic 6 County All-Star basketball games return for 29th year

The top boys and girls basketball players from Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced, Mariposa, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties will come together for the 29th time this Saturday for the historic 6 County All-Star Senior Basketball Game at Modesto Junior College.

The girls game tips off at 5:45 p.m. and the boys are slated to start at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a 3-point shootout for the girls and a slam dunk contest for the boys.

Preparation for Saturday’s high-level event began Monday, when boys and girls red and blue teams practiced at Modesto High. Tuesday, they had their final preparation session at Davis High. Thursday features a dinner at Sidelines/Whiskey Jack’s restaurant on Kansas Avenue at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday is the main event. Players will wear their school uniforms one last time as they compete against some of the top seniors in the southern part of the Sac-Joaquin Section. The Blue Team will wear home white jerseys and the Red Team will wear road jerseys.

Once again, the event will also have middle school all-star games. The boys eighth-grade all-star event will be at 3 p.m., with the girls following at 4 p.m. Doors for the day of games open at 2:30 p.m.

Section champion-winning coach Chris Teevan at Modesto Christian will coach his only senior one more time as Cole Martin will suit up for the Blue Team. After posting one of the best seasons in the East Union girls program’s storied history and reaching the section title game, Jim Agostini will coach one of the backbones of his program’s recent success, Zyondupree Beasley, on the Blue Team.

The boys red team will feature a school record holder and a two-time football state champion. Jordan Magana of Central Catholic is the program’s leader in career points (1,764) and threes (315) and is third all time in assists (333). Eli Ingalls quarterbacked Sonora to back-to-back state championships in Division 4-A in 2024 and 2-A in 2025. The Wildcats also finished a perfect 15-0 in 2025 and lost just two games over the past two seasons. Now, Ingalls takes the hardwood one last time.

On the girls’ side, one of the best scorers in Riverbank High history will represent the Red Team. Leilani Olanolan started her senior season with a bang, posting a 30-point, 11-rebound, 15-steal triple double and following that with a school record 50 points. She finished 17th in the nation in steals (8.6), sixth in the SJS in scoring (23.6 ppg) and 14th in California in made field goals (253).
