Here’s who Stanislaus District fans picked as the Boys Basketball Player of the Year

Turlock’s Daniel Malagon won the fan vote for The Stanislaus District’s Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Malagon earned more than 50,100, which was 52% of the more than 96,700 total votes in the poll.

Malagon’s senior year was the best of his three-year varsity career. The six-foot guard averaged 14.5 points and 1.1 steals. Both were team and career highs; he also set the school record for three’s made in a season with 96. He helped lead the Bulldogs to the CCAL title with an 8-2 record. They finished 20-8 overall, giving the program its first 20-win season since 2010-11 under first-year head coach Nick Nathanson. They earned a nine seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs and won their first-round road game over Capital Christian. Malagon scored 15 points in his final high school game against first overall seed Inderkum in the second round.

Malagon scored a career-high 32 points twice this season in wins against Gregori and Venture Academy. He will continue his basketball and athletic career at San Jose City College.
