Alex Cora Sends Farewell Message Days After Being Fired by Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox made the decision over the weekend to fire manager Alex Cora, who was in his eighth season with the organization, after a 10-17 start.
The move was ultimately made by owner John Henry and general manager Craig Breslow. The team is now 2-0 under interim manager Chad Tracy, who previously led the club's Triple-A affiliate in Worcester.
Since the firing, Cora remained relatively quiet publicly, but on Tuesday morning he shared a farewell message to the city of Boston and its fan base.
"Boston, we will miss you," Cora wrote. "Gracias for making us part of you. Red Sox Nation, you are the [heart] of that team. Keep believing - you really care, and that's what pushes everyone in the Red Sox to give it their all, day in and day out. With respect and love, AC."

There appeared to be a clear disconnect between how Craig Breslow constructed the roster and envisioned the team playing, and how Cora was managing it - something that became increasingly noticeable.
The Red Sox also parted ways with five other coaches from Cora's staff - effectively six if including Jason Varitek, who was reportedly offered another role within the organization but ultimately declined.
It's unclear how the Red Sox plan to approach their next managerial hire - whether they keep it in-house with Tracy as a candidate or pursue an external option midseason.
Ultimately, the organization reached a boiling point with Cora, who is now expected to be one of the most prominent names on the market as jobs open up around the league.
