Bee in Turlock: Stanislaus State networking mixer, painting help for the needy and more
California State University, Stanislaus, students, alumni and faculty are invited to a free networking mixer Wednesday. The event, hosted by students in the communication studies department at the university, is intended to bring together students and professionals in the fields of communications, public relations and marketing, according to a news release.
The mixer is open to everyone, organizers said. Representatives from campus organizations also are expected to attend, offering information on getting involved at the university.
The networking event is part of the students’ Capstone project, designed for graduating seniors to work on an effort to meet a campus or community need.
“The planning group feels that an important need for communication studies students is to have access to the advice and insight that can be gained from successful alumni,” the group said in a news release.

Lancaster Painting is taking nominations for its annual Paint it Forward event. Each year, the Turlock painting company chooses a family or business in need for a new paint job, free of charge. The effort is in its fifth year.
A committee reviews nominations and narrows the list to three. Employees will determine the recipient with a vote at their annual Christmas party. The project will take place in early 2015.
