Turlock driver, 29, killed in crash north of Denair, CHP reports

A Turlock man, 29, was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash north of Denair, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported about 4:15 a.m., though when it occurred remains under investigation. The CHP and other emergency personnel responded to the crash scene on Keyes Road just east of Swanson Road. They found a 1997 Honda coupe with major damage on the south shoulder of Keyes Road.

The preliminary investigation shows the driver was westbound on Keyes Road, approaching Swanson at an unknown speed. The Honda drifted to the left into the eastbound traffic lane, then veered southwest onto the shoulder before striking a concrete irrigation box, according to a news release on the crash.

Pending notification of family, the driver’s name was being withheld Thursday morning.

The CHP said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
