Emanuel Medical Center resumes operations after bomb threat

The Modesto Bee

A bomb threat called in to Emanuel Medical Center briefly interrupted operations Thursday morning.

Someone called the hospital, saying only, “There’s a bomb,” Capt. Nino Amirfar said.

“The hospital went on lockdown,” he said.

The hospital has its own protocols in such cases; police swept the hospital to ensure there was no cause for concern.

“Earlier today, local law enforcement assisted the hospital in investigating a possible threat and we activated additional security measures to ensure the safety of our employees, patients and their families,” Emanuel spokeswoman Pennie Rorex said by email Thurday afternoon. “No credible threat was found and normal operations have resumed. We thank the Turlock Police Department for its prompt response and support.”
