Driver of white Chevrolet Silverado flees following Modesto collision

The California Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a white Chevrolet Silverado who left the scene of a major-injury collision on Crows Landing Road in south Modesto on Friday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a collision on Crows Landing south of Glenn Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. and discovered three cars to be involved — one of which fled.

The investigation determined that Carlos Gonzalez, 29, was driving his Ford F-150 in one lane while Daniel Perales was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the next one. As the Chevrolet came up behind Gonzalez, the driver made an unsafe lane change into Perales’ lane, forcing the rider to react to avoid colliding, according to a CHP press release.

Perales managed to avoid hitting the Chevrolet but lost control of his motorcycle and was separated from it, falling into the path of Gonzalez’s Ford. Perales was run over, suffered major injuries and was taken to Doctors Medical Center for treatment.

Gonzalez remained at the scene to speak with police officers, but the driver of the Silverado fled and is being sought by the CHP. The Silverado is believed to be a 2019-through-current model.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Ed McGrath at the CHP Modesto Area office at 209-545-7440.
