Pharmacy robbers in Ceres went for narcotics but left with a different kind of drug

Ceres Police are looking for two suspects who robbed the pharmacy at Walgreens on Hatch Road Monday.

Surveillance video released by the department shows two men jump over the counter at the pharmacy just before 8 p.m. One of the men is seen pulling the employee by his arm to the side.

The suspects were not armed but the employee feared for his life, Yotsuya said.

He said the men demanded narcotics but what they left the store with was an oral steroid and a drug used to treat high blood pressure.

Yotsuya said the men went into a different pharmacy before robbing the Walgreens but left without taking anything.

The men, like many people, were wearing face masks.

Yotsuya said there hasn’t been an increase in thefts since more people started wearing face masks to protect against the coronavirus, but he said it has given some criminal more confidence.

“People feel safe behind the mask ... because they blend in more,” he said.

The suspects were seen driving a 1990s model black or green Toyota Camry.
