The Center for Human Services held open houses Thursday for the public to learn more about its two youth shelter programs in Modesto: Hutton House and Pathways.

Hutton House is a temporary shelter for runaway, homeless and young people in crisis who are 13 to 17 years old, according to the CHS website. Pathways is a transitional living and supportive services program for people 18 to 21 years old, according to the website. It serves the homeless and former foster care youths in an apartment complex.

CHS Marketing and Public Relations Director Kate Trompetter said her agency holds open houses and tours of its programs and services because it’s an effective way for the public to get a more in-depth understanding of CHS and the people it helps.
