YESTERYEARS
50 YEARS AGO: Future Farmers of America and 4-H Club members held an auction for their animals in the parking lot of McHenry Village. In the first carcass auction, there was consigned beef, sheep and hogs. More than 200 people attended the event, and L.M. Clausen, a Turlock agriculture teacher, made the highest bid per pound, 73 cents a pound for a 58-pound lamb carcass that had belonged to John Hogan, a Downey chapter student of the Modesto FFA.
