Info: The American Cancer Society has received a large donation of kids furniture and accessories – so big the store is using an extra space in the same shopping center. A kickoff sale will include lamps, bedding, furniture, rugs, art and lots of miscellaneous accessories for all ages. Bedding includes futon covers, shams, comforters, crib sets and window treatments, all at blow-out prices. YESTERYEARS
50 YEARS AGO: It was announced that longtime Patterson hardware store owner Wade Cripe would be retiring. Cripe had purchased the business in 1946 after returning home from World War II. He also was second assistant chief of the Patterson Volunteer Fire Department, for which he served 35 years, and a member of 20 to 30 other clubs.
