Stanislaus County voters, job seekers and students made news this week, with a contested Board of Supervisors race, the county posting positions paying up to $270K and a Turlock teen advancing in a nationwide scholarship competition.

• Board of Supervisors District 4 race: Incumbent Mani Grewal faces challenger Jennifer “Rally” Valenzuela in the June 2 primary. Grewal holds an overwhelming fundraising lead with more than $250,000 raised, while Valenzuela said she expects to spend several thousand dollars on a grassroots campaign.
• Assemblymember Juan Alanis is running unopposed in the primary for California Assembly District 22, with $769,706 in campaign contributions largely funded by rollover from his previous campaign.

• Stanislaus County is hiring for positions ranging from entry-level deputy probation officer to assistant medical director. Eligible hires may qualify for a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 or 21 additional days of paid leave for those hired by June 30.
