Modesto Irrigation District votes to sell idled equipment
Modesto Irrigation District leaders unanimously agreed Tuesday to sell idled power plant equipment for a fraction of the price they paid for it seven years ago.
Getting $320,000 from the company that made the Ripon plant's water treatment system is better than $50,000 for scrapping it, a report said, although the district bought it for $2.4 million in 2006.
In other items, auditors gave district finances a clean bill of health, saying a savings account could keep the MID going for more than five months with no other income.
Also, the MID board formally recognized a new union composed mostly of management and reviewed an ongoing effort to upgrade meeting broadcast equipment.
