Highway 99 reopens near Delhi after shooting injures two motorcyclists, CHP says
A portion of northbound Highway 99 was temporarily closed in Merced County near Delhi after two motorcyclists were shot on Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency personnel responded to a call of the shooting near the area of Shanks Road in Delhi on Highway 99 northbound at 7:27 a.m., according to CHP Officer Eric Zuniga.
Two motorcyclists had suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds and were transported to a Modesto-area hospital. Both motorcyclists were adult males ages 39 and 41.
Investigators were on the scene and northbound Highway 99 was closed for four hours from Winton Parkway to Shanks Road. The northbound lanes were reopened at 11:30 a.m., according to CHP.
A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time, according to Zuniga.
