Driver killed in crash that injured two others identified as 33-year-old Modesto man
The driver killed in a single-car crash Saturday night on North Ninth Street was Alan Arreola Hernandez, 33, of Modesto, police reported Monday. The man’s wife said his name was Alan Arreola.
Two passengers injured in the crash also are Modesto men: Roberto Rosales, 20, and Martin Castelan, 27.
Not long after 10 p.m. Saturday, Arreola was driving a 2000 Lexus LS430 south on North Ninth Street at high speed when he struck the concrete barrier on the east side of the street near the Woodland Avenue/Coldwell Avenue intersection, according to police.
The Lexus became airborne and rolled multiple times. Arreola died at the scene, and Rosales and Castelan were taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive.
“The full extent of their injuries is not known at this time,” Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear said in a text message Monday morning. “We will not know if alcohol was a factor until toxicology comes back, which could take several weeks or more.”
