Two Crows Landing residents killed in crash on Highway 132
Two Crows Landing residents died Saturday morning when the Volvo they were traveling in was broadsided by a big rig on Highway 132, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At 6:50 a.m., the big rig was heading west on Highway 132 and the Volvo was traveling south on Hart Road when they collided in the intersection, about seven miles west of Modesto, according to the CHP.
The Volvo was pushed forward by the big rig and both came to rest in a field at the southwest corner of the intersection.
The 28-year-old driver and the 22-year-old passenger, both men, died at the scene. The driver of the big rig, 39-year-old Tracy resident Harinder Chhina, was not injured.
The CHP is working to determine who had the right of way at the intersection, which is controlled by traffic signals. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
