Where’s the best RV campground in the US? Try this Northern California spot, USA Today says
Looking for the best RV campground in the United States? It’s in Northern California, according to USA Today.
Inn Town Campground in Nevada City landed at No. 1 on USA Today’s Best10 list of the top places to park your recreational vehicle for fun — for the third year in a row.
Jellystone Park Pelahatchie in Pelahatchie, Mississippi, was second on the publication’s list of 10 “most-visit campgrounds for your next adventure,” released Wednesday, while Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country in New Braunfels, Texas, came in third place.
“We consider it a tremendous honor to have been considered for this recognition alongside so many other amazing campgrounds around the country,” Inn Town Campground co-owner Erin Thiem said Wednesday in a news release.
The Nevada County campground was one of two California spots to make USA Today’s top 10 list.
Fernwood Resort in Big Sur landed at No. 8.
What is Inn Town Campground in Nevada City?
Located in a “towering pine forest” on a 15-acre site less than 2 miles from downtown Nevada City, Inn Town Campground offers camping options ranging from traditional tent sites and RV spaces with full hook-ups to glamping tents, according to the release.
“Each site has its own picnic table,” the release said.
The campground’s communal building offers amenities such as a barbecue area, camp store, community kitchen, laundry and reading nooks. There’s also a seasonal pool, heated washrooms with shower facilities and outdoor dish-washing stations.
Glamping tents and tent sites are available March through November, the release said, while reservations are available year-round for folks with their own RVs or campers along with the campground’s “new insulated and heated yurt.”
“Having been selected as the category winner for three years in a row doesn’t just speak to the campground experience,” Thiem said in the release. “It is (also) a testament to our exceptional Nevada City community as a whole.”
