‘Most beautiful thing:’ See baby seal climb on surfers’ boards off California coast

Video captured a baby seal climbing from surfboard to surfboard and riding waves near Pacific Beach in San Diego on June 17, 2023.

The seal pup is seen in drone footage wiggling onto surfer’s boards in the Tourmaline area.

FOX 5 reported that the SeaWorld, the nearby marine mammal park, was notified by surfers after the seal first surfaced. A SeaWorld crew evaluated the pup, determined it was healthy and no intervention was needed.

One of the surfers commented on the video posted by dronedudeed: “The most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me ... never getting rid of this board ... endlessly grateful to @dronedudeed for being there with me and catching this incredible moment on his cam”
