Helping out the family of shooting victim DeAngelo Smith

The Golden Valley wrestling team raises money for the family of DeAngelo Smith, who was shot to death a week ago outside of his Merced apartment.

Money raised from the car wash will go to help Smith’s family cover funeral costs.

There will be a reception for Smith today following the memorial service.

The viewing begins at 9 a.m. at the Church of the Living God on Childs Avenue in Merced, with the memorial service to follow at 10 a.m.

The reception will be held at the Sunnyview Apartments Recreation Center on D Street around 11:30 a.m.
