Trail named for late west Modesto leader now has monument in her honor, too
A monument now graces the Helen White Memorial Trail, thanking donors toward the 2014 completion of this half-mile path in west Modesto.
The monument was dedicated Thursday in a ceremony that brought out civic leaders and other supporters of recreation in the neighborhood.
The $1 million trail was built on an abandoned canal bank between Maze Boulevard and California Avenue. It can get students part of the way to Franklin School, Mark Twain Junior High School and Modesto High School.
White, who died in 2008, worked for the Stanislaus County Housing Authority for more than 30 years and was involved in many west Modesto causes.
