Passers-by spot body of man submerged in canal in Ceres. Police investigating
Ceres police are investigating after a man’s body was found Sunday evening in a canal along Moore Road.
Officers responded around 6 p.m. to the 3000 block of Moore Road after people walking near the canal reported seeing what appeared to be a submerged body, according to a news release from the Ceres Police Department.
With help from the Modesto Fire Department and American Medical Response, officers recovered the partially clothed man from the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene at about 6:24 p.m.
The man did not have any identification on him, police said. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office took custody of the body and will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Ceres detectives have launched an investigation, and no further details were immediately available.
