Human remains found in Pinecrest, authorities say

Human remains were found in Pinecrest on Thursday night, authorities said.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department said the remains were found by a resident in the area of Highway 108 and Old Strawberry Road.

The resident spotted them at 5:55 p.m. and called the sheriff’s office. Deputies and detectives confirmed the remains were of a human.

They have not been identified.

The sheriff’s department said more information would be released as soon as it becomes available.
