Live in Modesto? You’re about to pay more for sewer service
Modesto homeowners can expect to see their monthly sewer bill rise by 6 percent soon.
The City Council is expected to approve Tuesday the rate increase, which would take effect Sept. 1. The increase is the second of five annual rate increases of as much as 6 percent each that the council approved last year.
Under the full 6 percent increases, a single-family home would see its monthly sewer bill increase from $31.92 to $42.45 over the five years. Modesto also would increase rates for its other sewer customers, including apartments, business and industry, and the council is expected to approve increases for them Tuesday.
This year’s increase would raise the sewer bill for a single family home from $33.76 to 35.78. The council also has approved steeper increases in its water rates.
The council meets at 5:30 p.m. in the basement chambers of Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St.
